The HERTEL 750555 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 5/16-inch diameter, a 1/2-inch length of cut, and four flutes with a 30-degree right-hand helix for efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The micrograin carbide substrate provides hardness and wear resistance, and the TiCN coating adds surface hardness to extend tool life in abrasive or high-heat cutting environments. At 2 inches overall length with a stub-length classification, it offers rigidity in setups where deflection is a concern. This tool is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for slot milling, profiling, and light pocketing operations on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The stub-length design reduces overhang and vibration, making it well-suited for rigid setups in production environments. The 5/16-inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter, allowing use in standard collet chucks, end mill holders, or shrink-fit tooling of the same bore size. It is applicable in job shops and manufacturing facilities working with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials where a TiCN-coated carbide tool is appropriate.
Designed as a standard square end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with toolholders accepting a 5/16-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe state before changing tooling. Secure the shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-recommended clamping torque for that holder type. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use, and verify runout with a dial indicator when dimensional tolerance is critical.
