The HERTEL 750409 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It carries a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher cutting speeds and feeds while maintaining edge integrity. At 3/16 inches in diameter with a 5/8-inch length of cut and a 2-inch overall length, this is a compact tool suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in tight geometries. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in tool-and-die, aerospace, and general machining shops are the primary users.
This end mill is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool with a spiral flute configuration and centercutting capability, allowing plunge operations without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The 3/16-inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter, making it compatible with standard collet systems in that size range. It is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials where a short, rigid tool is needed to minimize deflection. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for standard 3/16-inch square end mills in applications requiring a 4-flute, TiCN-coated solid carbide tool with a 5/8-inch length of cut and 3/16-inch shank diameter. Fits any collet, end mill holder, or shrink-fit toolholder bored to 3/16 inches.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the retention nut or set screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and verify runout at the spindle before starting a new operation.
