The HERTEL 750228 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 1-inch cutting diameter, 4-flute spiral geometry, and a 30-degree helix angle, this end mill delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The TiN (titanium nitride) coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, extending tool life in production environments. This is a single-end, center-cutting tool, meaning it can be used for plunge cuts as well as conventional side milling. It is installed and operated by machinists and toolroom professionals on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling tasks including slotting, profiling, and face milling in job shop and production settings. The 1-inch shank diameter matches standard ER, CAT, BT, and similar toolholders found on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 1.5-inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth passes, while the 4-inch overall length provides clearance for a variety of fixturing setups. Right-hand cut orientation is standard for conventional spindle rotation.
Designed for use in standard 1-inch bore toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills. Length of cut range is 1.5 to 2 inches per manufacturer specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque guidelines. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the minimum insertion depth recommended for the toolholder type before tightening. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut before initiating the cut cycle. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use; a damaged or worn edge should be replaced rather than reground without proper carbide grinding equipment.
