The HERTEL 74460049 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit ground to an 8.50 mm (0.3346 inch) diameter with a 118-degree standard point angle. At 4 inches overall length with a 2.5-inch flute length, this is a compact, rigid tool built for consistent hole quality in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The bright uncoated finish indicates no additional coating has been applied, preserving the substrate hardness and edge sharpness out of the box. A web-thinned, tapered web design reduces thrust force at entry and helps center the drill without a pilot hole in many applications. The two-flute regular spiral geometry promotes chip evacuation in the softer materials this drill is rated for.
This drill bit is intended for use on machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held drilling equipment where a straight-shank jobber drill is required. Primary workpiece materials include aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous metals. With a maximum drilling depth of 2.1875 inches and a shank diameter of 0.3594 inches, it fits standard drill chucks and collet systems without adapters. The C2 carbide grade is a general-purpose classification suited for production and maintenance drilling in non-ferrous and non-metallic materials. This bit is sold individually and is appropriate for tool crib restocking, job-site kits, and CNC setups.
Designed for use in standard jobber-drill applications on aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Fits any drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.3594-inch straight shank.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the drill press, lathe, or machining center spindle is at a complete stop before inserting or removing the bit. Carbide is brittle compared to high-speed steel - avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without adequate support, or impacts that can chip the cutting edge. Confirm chuck or collet runout is within acceptable tolerance before starting a new job to protect the tight diameter tolerance of -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches on this drill.
