The HERTEL 74460015 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining applications. Built from C2-grade solid carbide with a bright (uncoated) finish, this bit delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for accurate drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It measures 6.5 mm (0.2559 inches) in diameter with a 3.25-inch overall length and a 2-inch flute length. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce entry force and improve centering at the start of the cut. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators working in job shops, production floors, and maintenance environments are the primary installers and users of this bit.
This drill bit is suited for general-purpose drilling operations where tight diameter tolerances are required. The diameter tolerance of -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches ensures consistent hole sizing within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch (6.00 to 7.00 mm) size range. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet systems without modification. It is appropriate for use in both manual drill presses and CNC machining centers where a right-hand, two-flute spiral configuration is specified.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems that accept a 0.2559-inch straight-cylindrical shank across manual and CNC drilling equipment.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Solid carbide bits are brittle compared to high-speed steel - ensure the spindle, chuck, and workpiece are rigidly secured before cutting to prevent tip chipping or breakage. Power down and lock out all equipment before changing tooling. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate recommendations for carbide tooling in the specific workpiece material before operation.
