The HERTEL 74459991 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding machining applications. Built from C2-grade carbide with a bright (uncoated) finish, this bit delivers consistent dimensional accuracy thanks to a tight diameter tolerance of -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches. At 5.5 mm (0.2165 inches) in diameter with a standard 118-degree split-point geometry and web-thinned tip, it starts cleanly without walking and requires no center punch on most setups. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and CNC operators rely on this geometry for general-purpose drilling in a wide range of materials at production volumes.
This bit is suited for general-purpose drilling in machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines across light industrial and job-shop environments. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets sized for 0.2165-inch shank diameters. With a 1.75-inch flute length and 3-inch overall length, it fits within the envelope of typical jobber-length tooling setups. No coolant-through capability means it is best used with flood coolant, mist, or dry-drilling techniques appropriate to the workpiece material.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collets accepting a 0.2165-inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for machining centers, drill presses, and manual machine tools.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before cutting. Carbide tooling is brittle - avoid side loading, interrupted cuts beyond the tool rating, or dropping the bit on hard surfaces. Select feeds and speeds appropriate to the workpiece material and consult tooling data for C2 carbide at the 5.5 mm diameter.
