The HERTEL 74132424 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in metal and hard materials. Built from cobalt steel with a TiAlN coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance in demanding production environments. The bit measures 1.75 inches overall length with a 0.75-inch flute length and cuts a 0.0820-inch diameter hole corresponding to wire gauge size 45. A 135-degree split point reduces walking and lowers thrust requirements at the start of the cut. This bit is sold individually and is used by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and precision metalworking shops.
Screw machine length drill bits are shorter than jobber-length bits, which increases rigidity and reduces deflection when drilling in confined spaces or on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines. The size 45 wire gauge designation makes this bit suited for small-diameter precision work including pilot holes, tap drilling, and close-tolerance production runs in steel, stainless, cast iron, and other hard alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for size 45 wire gauge screw machine length drill bits used in standard drill chucks accepting straight-cylindrical shanks on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines.
This bit is installed and replaced by machinists and tool-and-die professionals. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning production cuts. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Do not exceed the recommended RPM range for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
