The HERTEL 74132218 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-productivity drilling in metals and hard materials. Built from cobalt steel and finished with a TiAlN coating, it handles elevated cutting temperatures and abrasive workpiece materials better than standard HSS bits. The split point geometry at 135 degrees reduces walking and allows drilling without a center punch on most surfaces. At 2-1/16 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length, this stub-length format provides rigidity for accurate, chatter-free holes. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks. This bit is suited for machinists, tool-and-die workers, and production floor operators running drill presses, CNC machining centers, or hand-held power tools.
This drill bit is sized at wire gauge number 24, corresponding to 0.1520 inch decimal diameter. It fits within the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch drill bit size range. The screw machine length body makes it a practical choice for tight-clearance setups, fixture work, and applications where a jobber-length bit introduces too much deflection. Right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute type are standard for conventional drilling operations in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where cobalt tooling is specified.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or production-use drill bit for any application requiring a wire gauge size 24 (0.1520 inch) stub-length drill bit with a straight-cylindrical shank and right-hand cutting direction.
Installed by machinists and tool operators in drill presses, milling machines, or hand-held power tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Power down and de-energize all equipment before changing tooling. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine-guarding requirements when operating rotary cutting tools.
