The HERTEL 74130642 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed drilling in tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built to Series HSCO135 standards, it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and allows drilling without a center punch on most surfaces. The web-thinned, parallel web construction reduces thrust load and improves chip evacuation. At 2-3/16 inches overall length, this stub-style bit fits low-clearance drilling setups where standard length bits cannot reach. It is suited for machinists, tool-and-die workers, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working with drill presses, CNC machines, or hand-held power tools.
This bit is intended for precision-tolerance drilling applications where a wire gauge Size 13 hole at 0.1850 inch decimal diameter is required. The short overall length and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. Typical applications include screw machine production work, fixture fabrication, and close-tolerance hole drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard alloys. The right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute geometry suit general-purpose through-hole and blind-hole drilling in shop and field environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for Size 13 wire gauge screw machine length drill bits with a 0.1850 inch diameter and straight shank, compatible with any standard drill chuck or collet holder accepting that shank diameter.
This drill bit is installed and serviced by machinists, tool crib personnel, or maintenance technicians using standard drill press or CNC tooling procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is at a full stop and the chuck or collet is fully released before inserting or removing the bit. Secure the shank with adequate clamping force to prevent slippage under load. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the material being drilled to extend tool life and maintain hole tolerance.
