The HERTEL 74129123 is a solid carbide straight-flute die drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasion-resistant workpiece materials. Ground to a 140-degree notched point with web thinning, this bit reduces thrust and improves centering in demanding applications. The bright finish is left uncoated to maintain tight dimensional tolerances, with a diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches. At 0.0781 inches (5/64 inch) in diameter, the bit is suited for small-hole work where accuracy and tool rigidity are critical. It features a right-hand cutting direction and two flutes. The C2 carbide grade provides the hardness and wear resistance needed when working ferrous and exotic alloys.
This die drill bit is intended for use in tool-and-die, mold-making, aerospace, and precision machining environments. It is well suited for drilling chrome alloy, heat-treated alloy, nickel alloy, stainless steel, carbon steel, and titanium alloy workpieces. The straight-flute geometry makes it a strong choice for short-hole drilling in hard materials where chip evacuation demands are lower and rigidity is prioritized over chip clearing. Machinists and tool-and-die makers are the primary users in both production and maintenance settings.
Designed for precision drilling of chrome alloy, heat-treated alloy, nickel alloy, stainless steel, steel, and titanium alloy workpieces in die, mold, and close-tolerance machining applications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tool-and-die professionals familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Carbide drill bits are brittle and require rigid machine setups with minimal runout to prevent breakage. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate against published data for the workpiece material before drilling. Secure the workpiece firmly and inspect the bit for chips or cracks before each use.
