The HERTEL 74129115 is a straight-flute solid carbide drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasion-resistant metals. Built from C2-grade carbide with a bright uncoated finish, this bit measures 3/64 inch (0.0469 inch decimal) in diameter and features a 140-degree notched point with web thinning for improved centering and reduced thrust. Two right-hand flutes evacuate chips efficiently in short-hole applications. The tight diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inch makes it well-suited for close-tolerance holes where dimensional accuracy is critical. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with difficult alloys will find this geometry appropriate for the job.
This drill bit is intended for use in ferrous and high-strength materials including steel, stainless steel, chrome alloy, heat-treated alloy, nickel alloy, and titanium alloy. Its straight-flute geometry makes it a preferred choice for applications where chip control and hole straightness are priorities, such as drilling thin-section parts, hardened components, or cross-holes in precision machined assemblies. The small diameter makes it common in aerospace, medical device, and industrial tooling operations where fine-feature drilling is required.
Designed for use in drilling steel, stainless steel, chrome alloy, heat-treated alloy, nickel alloy, and titanium alloy workpieces. Suitable for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with a chuck or collet accepting a 3/64 inch shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians using standard drill chucks or precision collets rated for the 0.0469-inch shank diameter. Confirm the spindle and workpiece are fully secured before beginning the cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant compatible with the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. At this diameter, feed rate and spindle speed must be set carefully to avoid bit deflection or breakage.
