The HERTEL 72300569 is a chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining operations. Built from cobalt steel, this reamer handles tough materials and higher cutting temperatures better than standard high-speed steel tooling. The straight flute geometry produces a clean, accurate bore with a bright, uncoated finish. At 10 inches overall length with a 2-5/8 inch flute length and a 7/8 inch (0.8750 inch decimal) diameter, it fits standard drill press and lathe chuck setups. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in drill chucks and collets. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional machining use.
This reamer is suited for production and maintenance machining environments where close-tolerance hole finishing is required. It is used in machine shops, tool rooms, and industrial maintenance settings. Typical applications include reaming drilled or bored holes to precise diameter in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The cobalt steel construction makes it a practical choice for harder alloys and interrupted cuts where standard HSS tooling wears quickly. It ships in a package quantity of one.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and milling machines equipped with a drill chuck or collet that accepts a straight-cylindrical shank at 7/8 inch diameter.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists in shop environments. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet before use and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the job. Always reduce spindle speed and increase feed rate compared to drilling — running a reamer too fast generates heat and accelerates wear. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish.
