The HERTEL 72300460 is a chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal machining applications. Built from cobalt steel with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers consistent sizing and surface finish in medium to hard workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly in drill chucks, collets, or floating holders on lathes, drill presses, and machining centers. At 0.7188 inches in diameter with a 9-inch overall length and a 2.25-inch straight flute, it is sized for production and toolroom work where tight hole tolerances are required. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional machine rotation.
This chucking reamer is suited for machine shop, toolroom, and production floor environments where finish reaming to a 23/32-inch nominal diameter is needed. It is appropriate for general ferrous and non-ferrous metalworking where cobalt steel construction provides additional heat and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel. The straight flute geometry is well matched to through-hole and short blind-hole applications. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators are the typical end users for this style of reamer.
Designed as a standard chucking-style reamer for use in lathes, drill presses, and machining centers equipped with drill chucks, collets, or floating reamer holders accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
This reamer is installed and operated by machinists or tool and die personnel. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck or collet before operation, and confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped before loading or removing the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. Pre-drill or bore the hole to the correct allowance before reaming, as chucking reamers are finishing tools and are not designed for heavy stock removal.
