The HERTEL 72291255 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed to finish-ream drilled holes to a precise diameter of 0.3906 inches (25/64 inches). Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers consistent sizing in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 6-flute, right-hand cutting geometry produces a smooth bore finish and stable chip evacuation. With an overall length of 5.125 inches and a 1.75-inch flute length, the tool fits standard chuck-mounted setups on lathes, drill presses, and machining centers. It is the correct choice when a close-tolerance finished hole is required after rough drilling.
This reamer is suited for machine shop, toolroom, and production floor use where repeatable hole sizing in the 0.3500 to 0.3999 inch diameter range is required. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in a drill chuck or collet without adapter modification. It is appropriate for residential and commercial metalworking applications, light manufacturing, and maintenance shops. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with standard spindle rotation on most machine tools.
Designed as a standard machine chucking reamer for use in lathes, drill presses, milling machines, and machining centers equipped with a drill chuck or collet capable of accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 25/64 inch diameter range.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck or collet before operation, and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the required hole tolerance. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve finish quality. Do not use a chucking reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of the finished diameter before reaming.
