The HERTEL 72290307 is a straight-flute chucking reamer ground to a wire gauge size 30 diameter of 0.1285 inches. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, it is designed for precision hole finishing in machine shop and production environments. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. With four right-hand flutes and an overall length of 2.75 inches, this reamer delivers clean, accurate bores in through-hole and shallow blind-hole applications where close dimensional tolerances are required.
This reamer is suited for light production reaming on drill presses, CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and manual mills. It is intended for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and similar machinable materials where a wire-gauge diameter hole must be finished to tight tolerances. The 0.875-inch flute length accommodates typical shallow-hole reaming depths common in fixture and component work. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as a standard wire-gauge chucking reamer compatible with any machine spindle or chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the sub-0.15-inch diameter class.
Installation of chucking reamers is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the shank fully in a drill chuck or collet before operation and verify runout with an indicator when tolerances are critical. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Power down the machine spindle completely before changing or inspecting the reamer.
