The HERTEL 72034812 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal cutting applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright uncoated finish, this reamer produces accurate, smooth bores in a wide range of workpiece materials. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard chucks and collets. At 8 inches overall length with a 2-inch flute section and a 0.4810-inch cutting diameter, it delivers controlled material removal with six flutes for consistent chip evacuation and surface finish in production or toolroom environments.
This reamer is suited for machine shop, maintenance, and production applications where a finished hole in the 0.4810-inch diameter range is required. It mounts in drill presses, lathes, CNC machining centers, and manual milling machines equipped with a standard chuck or collet. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with conventional spindle rotation. It is used by machinists and tool-and-die technicians for line reaming, fixture work, and close-tolerance bore finishing where a drill alone cannot achieve the required dimensional accuracy.
Designed as a general-purpose chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a chuck or collet accepting a straight-cylindrical shank at the 0.4810-inch diameter class.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with reaming procedures and machine tool operation. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is securely clamped before mounting or removing the reamer. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve bore finish. Never force a reamer through an undersized pilot hole — the pilot bore should be drilled to within the appropriate stock allowance before reaming.
