The HERTEL 72029150 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed to bring bored or drilled holes to a precise finished diameter. With a cutting diameter of 0.2915 inches, an overall length of 6 inches, and a 1.5-inch straight flute length, this reamer delivers consistent, close-tolerance results in machine shop and production environments. The bright, uncoated HSS construction handles a broad range of workpiece materials. Six right-hand flutes provide smooth chip evacuation and a clean surface finish on the reamed bore. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard drill chucks, collets, or floating holders on lathes, drill presses, and machining centers.
This chucking reamer is suited for production reaming operations in metalworking environments where hole diameter accuracy and finish quality are critical. Typical applications include component machining in manufacturing, maintenance repair, and tool-room work. The 0.2915-inch diameter falls within the 0.2500 to 0.2999-inch decimal-inch range, making it appropriate for precision bore finishing where a standard letter or fractional size does not match the required fit.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in lathes, drill presses, and machining centers equipped with a drill chuck, ER collet, or floating reamer holder accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of the appropriate diameter.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists and tool-room professionals. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the holding device before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the required hole tolerance. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Never use a chucking reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within the recommended allowance before reaming.
