The HERTEL 72021157 is a straight-flute chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine shop and production environments. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish, this reamer delivers accurate sizing and smooth surface finishes in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It measures 0.2115 inches in diameter with an overall length of 5 inches and a 1.25-inch flute length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. With 6 flutes cutting in a right-hand direction, it provides stable, chatter-resistant performance during finishing passes. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users of this tooling.
This reamer is suited for bench drill press, turret lathe, CNC machining center, and manual mill applications where a reamed hole in the 0.2000 to 0.2499 inch diameter range is required. It is appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole finishing operations where tight dimensional tolerances and consistent bore quality are the objective. The compact flute length of 1.25 inches makes it well-suited for shallow-depth reaming applications in production or job-shop settings.
Designed as an OEM-style machine reamer for use in any drill press, lathe, or machining center equipped with a standard drill chuck or collet holder sized to accept a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.2000 to 0.2499 inch diameter class.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists following standard machine tool safety procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout with a dial indicator when tolerance is critical. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully stopped before measuring the reamed bore or removing the tool.
