The HERTEL 71206288 is a No. 11 wire gauge jobber length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood, and plastic. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with an oxide coating for improved lubricity and surface hardness, this bit measures 0.1910 inches in diameter with an overall length of 3.5 inches. The standard 118-degree split point and web-thinned tip reduce walking and lower feed pressure on entry. With a 2-flute spiral flute design and tapered web configuration, chips clear efficiently during through-hole drilling. This bit is installed and used by machinists, HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and general trade professionals working with hand drills and drill presses.
Sized at No. 11 wire gauge (0.1910 inches), this bit fits applications requiring precise fractional-range holes in the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch range. The straight cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard 3-jaw chucks and keyed drill press chucks. Typical use cases include pilot holes, clearance holes for fasteners, and production drilling in light to medium stock. Right-hand cut geometry makes it compatible with standard clockwise-rotating drill motors and presses found in trade and shop environments.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement jobber length drill bit for use in standard drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling equipment accepting straight cylindrical shanks in the 0.1500 to 0.2000 inch diameter range.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck before beginning any drilling operation and verify the chuck is tightened with the chuck key before powering on the drill. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and maintain cut quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use — a dull bit increases feed pressure and raises the risk of breakage. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA standards when operating drill presses or handheld power tools.
