The HERTEL 7000504 is a left-hand indexable boring bar built for precision internal boring operations in metalworking and machining applications. Constructed from solid carbide, the bar provides rigidity and vibration resistance at small bore diameters. It accepts CP-style inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method and features through-coolant capability via a 0.125-inch coolant hole, supporting chip evacuation and tool life at the cutting edge. With a minimum bore diameter of 0.48 inches and a maximum bore depth of 2.25 inches, it is suited for tight-tolerance bores in production and job-shop environments. The toolholder follows the E06SCLPL2 style designation within the Series E line.
This boring bar is intended for use on CNC lathes and turning centers where left-hand cutting orientation is required. It is well suited to finish boring operations on steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials in both high-volume production and low-volume precision work. The through-coolant feature makes it particularly appropriate for deeper bores where flood coolant alone is insufficient to clear chips from the cutting zone. Machinists and tooling specialists working in precision turning applications will find this bar compatible with standard E-series boring head setups.
Designed to accept CP.. series inserts as specified by the E06SCLPL2 toolholder style designation. Compatible with machine setups requiring a 3/8-inch shank diameter and left-hand boring bar orientation.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all energy is locked out before mounting or removing the boring bar. Verify shank clamping torque per the machine tool manufacturer's boring head specifications — do not exceed rated clamp force. Confirm coolant line connection and pressure compatibility before enabling through-coolant flow.
