The HERTEL 7000472 is a right-hand indexable boring bar designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built from solid carbide, it accepts WP.. 21.51 series inserts secured by a screw-holding method, providing rigid, repeatable cutting performance. The bar features a minimum bore diameter of 0.48 inches (12.19 mm) and a maximum bore depth of 2.25 inches (57.15 mm), with a 0.375-inch (3/8 inch) shank diameter and a 6-inch overall length. A through-coolant channel with a 0.125-inch coolant hole delivers cutting fluid directly to the insert tip, reducing heat and improving chip evacuation in deep-bore applications. Machinists and CNC programmers working in ferrous and non-ferrous materials will find this bar well-suited to tight-tolerance finish boring work.
This boring bar is intended for use in production and job-shop environments where consistent bore geometry is required. Its compact 0.48-inch minimum bore capability makes it applicable to small-diameter internal features on turned components. The 6-inch OAL provides sufficient reach for workpieces requiring bore depths up to 2.25 inches. The back-of-bar to cutting edge dimension is 0.25 inches. This bar belongs to the Series E toolholder family and is a single-application boring tool, not configured for multi-use operations. It is sold individually and is appropriate for shops running medium to high production volumes on turning centers with through-spindle coolant capability.
Designed to accept WP.. 21.51 series indexable inserts. Toolholder style is E06SWLPR2. Verify insert geometry and chipbreaker selection against the workpiece material and surface finish requirement before use.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle and turret are fully powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the boring bar. Shank clamping torque and tool projection should follow the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder specifications. Confirm through-coolant passages are clear and coolant pressure is appropriate for the machine before beginning the cut.
