The HERTEL 7000462 is a right-hand indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built to toolholder style A16STLPR3 with a 1 inch shank diameter and 12 inches overall length, this bar handles a minimum bore diameter of 1.22 inches and a maximum bore depth of 3 inches. The steel shank construction provides rigidity under interrupted cuts, and the through-coolant design delivers cutting fluid directly to the insert tip for improved chip evacuation and extended insert life. Insert retention is via a screw-clamp method, keeping TPMT 32.52 inserts securely seated under heavy radial loads. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary users.
This boring bar is suited for finishing and semi-finishing bores in ferrous and non-ferrous materials on standard engine lathes, turret lathes, and CNC turning centers. The A16STLPR3 toolholder style fits common tool post and turret pockets sized for a 1 inch round shank. With a back-of-bar to cutting edge measurement of 0.64 inches and a maximum bore depth of 3 inches, it handles moderate-depth bores without excessive overhang. The coolant port uses a 1/4-27 NPT thread for easy connection to machine coolant supply lines. This bar is part of Hertel Series A boring tooling.
Designed to accept TPMT 32.52 series inserts. Toolholder style is A16STLPR3. Compatible with tool posts and turret pockets sized for a 1 inch round shank. Minimum bore diameter using a triangle insert cartridge is 0.375 inches.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool post or turret pocket clamping torque and shank extension limits. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or seating the boring bar. Connect the coolant supply to the 1/4-27 NPT port using an appropriate fitting rated for your machine coolant pressure. Do not exceed the specified maximum bore depth of 3 inches, as excessive overhang increases deflection and insert breakage risk.
