The HERTEL 7000457 is a right-hand indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and precision bore finishing on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built from steel, it features a 1-inch shank diameter and a 12-inch overall length, accommodating a minimum bore diameter of 1.3 inches and a maximum bore depth of 3 inches. The bar uses a screw-clamp insert holding method and accepts VB..332 series inserts. A through-coolant design with a 1/4-27 NPT coolant hole thread keeps cutting temperatures down and aids chip evacuation during deep bore operations. This tool is suited for machinists and toolroom technicians working in production or job-shop environments.
The 7000457 fits applications where consistent bore geometry and surface finish are required in steel, cast iron, and similar machinable materials. The A16TSVQBR3 toolholder style positions it for medium-bore internal turning work. Its through-coolant capability makes it particularly effective for longer reach cuts where flood coolant alone is insufficient. The right-hand cut orientation is standard for conventional lathe spindle rotation. A minimum bore diameter using a diamond insert cartridge of 0.375 inches extends its range for smaller bores when the appropriate cartridge is used.
Accepts VB..332 series indexable inserts as specified by the A16TSVQBR3 toolholder style. Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new installation for setups requiring a 1-inch shank boring bar in this toolholder series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine control locked out per applicable safety procedures. Confirm shank bore fit and torque insert screws to the toolholder manufacturer's published specification using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Connect the coolant supply line to the 1/4-27 NPT port before operation; verify coolant flow and pressure before initiating a cut. Inspect insert seating and clamp integrity after the first pass.
