The HERTEL 7000076 is a left-hand indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built to A-SWLP toolholder style specifications, this steel bar accepts WP-style inserts secured by a screw-clamping method. It features a 0.6 inch minimum bore diameter and an 8 inch overall length, making it well-suited for deeper bore applications where rigidity and coolant delivery are critical. Through-coolant capability with a 1/16-27 NPT coolant hole thread size ensures chip evacuation and thermal control at the cutting zone. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working with tight-tolerance bore work will find this bar appropriate for production and job-shop environments.
This boring bar is used in metalworking operations requiring left-hand cutting geometry on internal diameters starting at 0.6 inches. The 0.5 inch shank diameter fits standard lathe toolposts and boring bar holders. A neutral rake angle and a -5 degree lead angle provide stable cutting action on a range of workpiece materials. The through-coolant design makes it particularly effective in interrupted cuts or when working with steels and alloys that generate significant heat at the cutting edge.
Compatible with WP-style indexable inserts with a 0.25 inch inscribed circle. Designed for use in standard lathe toolposts and boring bar holders accepting a 0.5 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the boring bar. Ensure the shank is fully supported in the holder with adequate clamping length to minimize overhang-induced vibration. Verify coolant line connection to the 1/16-27 NPT port before resuming operation, and confirm insert seating and screw torque per the insert manufacturer's guidelines before taking a cut.
