The HERTEL 7000071 is a right-hand indexable boring bar designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built to the A-SWLP toolholder style, it accepts WP.. 21.51 series inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method. The bar features a 3/8-inch shank diameter and a 6-inch overall length, with a minimum bore diameter of 0.48 inches. Through-coolant capability is standard, with a 0.1250-inch coolant hole diameter that directs fluid directly to the cutting zone. The neutral rake geometry and -5-degree lead angle suit a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous boring applications. Installed by machinists and tool and die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This boring bar is suited for small-bore internal turning work where tight dimensional tolerances are required. The 0.48-inch minimum bore diameter allows it to reach into shallow, close-tolerance bores typical in hydraulic components, bushings, and precision housings. The through-coolant design supports higher cutting speeds and extended insert life by maintaining chip evacuation and thermal control at the cutting edge. The 3/8-inch shank fits standard boring bar holders and quick-change tooling systems commonly found on manual and CNC turning centers.
Designed for use with WP.. 21.51 series indexable inserts featuring a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 3/32-inch thickness. Fits standard 3/8-inch boring bar holders on CNC and manual turning centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and in a locked-out state. Secure the 3/8-inch shank firmly in the toolholder to the depth recommended by the tooling system manufacturer before engaging the insert. When connecting the through-coolant supply, verify that the coolant path is clear and that system pressure is compatible with the bar. Index or replace inserts only after the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is safe to access.
