The HERTEL 7000054 is a right-hand A-MTFN style indexable boring bar designed for internal turning operations on CNC lathes and boring mills. Built from steel with a 1-1/4 inch shank diameter and a 14 inch overall length, it accommodates TN-style inserts secured by screw or clamp. The minimum bore diameter is 1.47 inches, and the bar features through-coolant capability via a 1/4-18 NPT coolant hole thread, keeping the cutting zone clear during deep-bore operations. A negative rake angle of 5 degrees and a 0-degree lead angle suit general-purpose internal turning where stable, consistent chip formation matters. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This boring bar is suited for job shops, production machining cells, and toolrooms handling steel, cast iron, and similar materials that call for a negative-rake insert geometry. The 14 inch OAL makes it appropriate for moderate-depth bores where rigidity and reach must be balanced. The through-coolant feature is especially useful in blind-bore or interrupted-cut applications where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. Insert size is defined by a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 3/16 inch thickness, both standard dimensions in the TN-style family.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and all energy isolated before mounting or adjusting the boring bar in the toolholder block. Verify shank-to-bore clearance and confirm the coolant port connection is properly sealed before engaging through-coolant flow. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when setting tool offsets and insert torque.
