The HERTEL 7000042 is a left-hand indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built to the A-SCLP toolholder style, it accepts CP-series inserts secured by screw clamping and delivers a neutral rake angle for stable, consistent cutting across a range of materials. The steel shank measures 0.5 inches in diameter and the bar runs 8 inches overall, giving machinists the reach needed for moderate-depth bores. A through-coolant design with a 1/16-27 NPT coolant port helps manage heat and chip evacuation at the cutting zone. Minimum bore diameter is 0.6 inches. This bar is suited for production shops and tool rooms where repeatable insert indexing and coolant delivery are priorities.
This boring bar is used in metal-cutting applications where a left-hand tool path is required, such as back-boring or specific spindle rotation setups on CNC turning centers and manual engine lathes. The 0.5-inch round shank fits standard boring bar holders and quick-change toolposts commonly found in job shops and production machining environments. The -5 degree lead angle and 0.312-inch center-to-cutting-edge dimension support finish and semi-finish boring passes. Machinists working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials will find this bar appropriate for tight-tolerance internal diameter work.
Designed for use with CP-series indexable inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and 3/32-inch insert thickness, held by screw clamping in an A-SCLP style pocket.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or removing the boring bar. Secure the 0.5-inch shank firmly in the boring bar holder to the proper clamping depth to minimize overhang and vibration. Verify coolant line connection at the 1/16-27 NPT port before initiating through-coolant flow.
