The HERTEL 7000036 is a left-hand A-MVUN indexable boring bar engineered for internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built from steel with a 1-1/4 inch shank diameter and a 14 inch overall length, this bar accepts VN-style inserts held by screw or clamp. The minimum bore diameter is 1.705 inches, making it well-suited for moderate to large bore work. A through-coolant design with a 1/4-18 NPT coolant hole thread delivers cutting fluid directly to the insert tip, extending tool life and improving chip evacuation in deep-bore applications. The negative rake geometry with a 5-degree rake angle and a -3-degree lead angle supports stable, chatter-resistant cuts in steel and cast iron.
This boring bar is intended for shop environments where precision internal diameter machining is required. It is a left-hand holder, meaning the cutting action progresses from left to right relative to the spindle face. Typical applications include finish boring and semi-finish boring of housings, flanges, cylinders, and bored-through features on production or job-shop turning equipment. Machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking, manufacturing, and tool-and-die environments are the primary users of this toolholder style.
Designed for use with VN-style indexable inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and 3/16 inch thickness. Compatible with standard A-MVUN insert seating systems on CNC lathes and turning centers equipped to accept a 1-1/4 inch round shank boring bar.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the toolholder. Ensure the shank is clamped securely in the boring bar holder or turret to the full recommended engagement depth to minimize deflection. Connect the coolant line to the 1/4-18 NPT port using appropriate fittings before running through-coolant cycles; verify no leaks before initiating a cut.
