The HERTEL 66694498 is a No. 50 wire-size jobber-length drill bit ground from high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. It features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and requires no center punch on most surfaces. The web-thinned, tapered web construction lowers thrust requirements and improves chip evacuation through the two regular-spiral flutes. At 2 inches overall length with a 0.0700-inch diameter, this is a heavy-duty tool suited for precision holemaking in metal, plastic, and composite materials. Installation and use are performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with tight-tolerance wire-gauge holes.
This drill bit is intended for holemaking applications requiring a No. 50 wire-gauge diameter of 0.0700 inches. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and collets without modification. The TiN coating extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials compared to uncoated HSS tooling. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drilling operations on drill presses, hand drills, and CNC equipment. It is rated as a heavy-duty grade jobber series bit conforming to NAS specification designation.
Designed as a jobber-length drill bit for use in any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.0700-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling equipment.
Secure the shank fully in a properly sized chuck or collet before operating. Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped before drilling to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the material being drilled to maximize tool life, noting this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use; a worn split point will increase thrust and reduce hole quality.
