The HERTEL 66694431 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge 44, with a decimal diameter of 0.0860 inches. It features a 135-degree split point for self-centering starts and reduced thrust, along with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends tool life by hardening the cutting surface. The flute is a standard right-hand spiral with a regular helix, and the shank is straight-cylindrical at 0.0860 inches in diameter. At 2.125 inches overall length with a 1.125-inch flute, this is a compact, precise bit suited for metalworking and light-duty holemaking in production or maintenance environments. It is graded heavy duty and conforms to NAS specification designation.
This drill bit is designed for holemaking applications where a small-diameter, precise entry point is required. Wire gauge 44 sizing is commonly used in electrical, instrumentation, and precision machining work where tight hole tolerances matter. The web-thinned, tapered web construction reduces walking and improves chip evacuation. This bit is appropriate for use in drill presses, CNC machines, or hand drills when a suitable chuck is available. It is sold individually per package but carries a minimum order quantity of 12 units, making it a standard restocking item for shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill for use in any straight-chuck drill press, CNC drilling station, or hand drill accepting a 0.0860-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists, toolroom technicians, or maintenance mechanics. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate for the workpiece material and bit diameter, as small-diameter bits are susceptible to breakage under side load.
