The HERTEL 66694233 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, designed for production and general-purpose holemaking in metal, wood, and plastic. The bit is ground to a 135-degree split point angle with web thinning, which reduces walking on contact and lowers the thrust force needed to start a hole without a center punch. At 0.1520 inches in diameter (No. 24 wire size) and 3.125 inches overall length, it fits standard drill chucks and is suited for handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. The TiN coating extends surface hardness and tool life compared to uncoated HSS. Two spiral flutes with a tapered web configuration clear chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole operations.
This bit is sized for holemaking tasks that call for a No. 24 wire gauge diameter, commonly used in tapping pre-drill operations, sheet metal work, light structural fabrication, and general maintenance. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard keyless and keyed chucks across a wide range of portable and bench-mounted equipment. The heavy-duty grade designation and NAS specification make it appropriate for demanding production environments as well as maintenance and repair applications. It is sold individually and is suited for professional machinists, maintenance technicians, and skilled tradespeople who require consistent performance on repetitive drilling tasks.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit with a straight cylindrical shank compatible with any drill chuck sized to accept a 0.1520-inch shank diameter, including handheld portable drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers.
Installation and use should follow safe machine tool practices in accordance with applicable shop safety standards. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Power down the machine and disconnect energy before changing bits or clearing chip jams. Do not exceed the rated speed range for the bit diameter and material being drilled, and use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to preserve coating life.
