The HERTEL 66693763 is a letter-size B jobber-length drill bit designed for general holemaking in metal, wood, and composite materials. Manufactured from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended cutting life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements, making it well suited for production drilling and repetitive hole operations. Overall length is 4 inches with a 2-3/4-inch flute length. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.2380 inches in diameter, matching the letter B decimal equivalent. Web-thinned construction reduces cutting resistance at the chisel edge.
This drill bit is intended for trade and industrial use where consistent, accurate holes in the 0.2380-inch range are required. Typical applications include mechanical contractors, maintenance technicians, fabricators, and service professionals drilling clearance holes, pilot holes, or through-holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The regular spiral flute promotes chip evacuation in through-hole applications. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press, handheld, and CNC spindle use. The NAS specification designation indicates it meets established aerospace and industrial dimensional standards.
Designed as a standard jobber-length drill bit for use in conventional drill presses, handheld power drills, and CNC machining centers equipped with a chuck or collet accepting a 0.2380-inch straight shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify there is no runout before beginning a cut. Always wear appropriate eye protection and ensure the workpiece is properly fixtured or clamped. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping, excessive wear, or coating breakdown is observed.
