The HERTEL 66693359 is a No. 49 wire-size jobber-length drill bit ground from high-speed steel and coated with TiAlN for extended tool life in demanding holemaking applications. At 0.0730 inch diameter, it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust required to start a hole. The two-flute regular-spiral design provides efficient chip evacuation over a 1.0-inch flute length, with an overall length of 2.0 inches. The NAS-designated heavy-duty grade makes it a reliable choice for production environments where consistent hole quality and tool durability are required.
This drill bit is suited for holemaking in stainless steel and cast iron, materials that demand a sharp, hard-wearing cutting edge and good heat resistance. The TiAlN coating significantly improves performance in these work-hardening and abrasive materials compared to uncoated HSS tooling. Typical applications include precision hole drilling in fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and production machining environments. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without adapters, and the right-hand cutting direction is compatible with conventional CNC, benchtop, and handheld drilling equipment.
Designed for use in stainless steel and cast iron workpieces. Fits any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.1406-inch straight shank. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 1.875 inches.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with small-diameter tooling. Secure the shank fully in a properly tightened drill chuck before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or cast iron to reduce heat buildup, as this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use, and replace the bit if the point geometry is compromised to avoid workpiece damage or bit breakage.
