The HERTEL 66692104 is a wire gauge Size 34 cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for high-speed, close-tolerance drilling in metalworking applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life when cutting through hard and abrasive materials. The split-point, web-thinned tip at 135 degrees reduces walking and enables reliable starts without a center punch. At 1-7/8 inches overall length, the stub-length body provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited to drill press, CNC, and hand-held power tool use by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians.
This bit is used in production and job-shop environments where tight hole tolerances and reduced cycle times matter. The 0.1110 inch decimal diameter corresponds to wire gauge Number 34, common in tapping undersized pilot holes and clearance drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-strength alloys. The short flute length of 7/8 inch limits deflection and improves chip evacuation in shallow-depth applications. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.1110 inch diameter seats directly in standard drill chucks without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style screw machine length drill bit in the HSCO135-TN series, suitable for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1110 inch straight shank across drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power tools.
This bit is installed and replaced by machinists and maintenance technicians. Secure the straight shank firmly in a drill chuck rated for the intended spindle speed before operation. Always power down and de-energize the machine before changing bits. Do not exceed the recommended surface footage for cobalt tooling in the workpiece material, and use appropriate cutting fluid to maximize tool life and hole quality.
