The HERTEL 62913942 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiAlN for elevated heat resistance, this tool handles tough ferrous and exotic alloys where standard HSS cutters wear prematurely. It features a 3/4-inch diameter, four flutes in a fine-pitch spiral configuration, and a 2.5-inch length of cut, making it suitable for deep-slotting and side-milling passes where chip clearance and edge durability are priorities. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. This end mill is installed and replaced by machinists and toolroom professionals in job shops, production environments, and maintenance machining settings.
This roughing end mill is suited for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills. The 3/4-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style side-lock holders common in both production and toolroom setups. The TiAlN coating extends tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions and in materials such as alloy steels, stainless steels, and hardened workpieces. Note that this tool is not centercutting and cannot plunge directly into solid material without a pre-drilled entry point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement roughing end mill for standard 3/4-inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and side-lock holders used in vertical or horizontal milling applications.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention screw or collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Because this tool is not centercutting, do not attempt a direct plunge cut into solid stock. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation before commencing a cut, particularly in tight-tolerance applications.
