The HERTEL 59909010 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal and composite materials. It features a 5/16-inch cutting diameter, a 3/4-inch length of cut, and a 3/8-inch shank diameter with an overall length of 3 inches. The double-end configuration and 2-flute geometry support efficient chip evacuation in slotting and peripheral milling operations. A 30-degree helix angle provides a smooth cutting action, while the bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating buildup or contamination is a concern. Micrograin carbide construction delivers edge hardness and wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in CNC and manual milling environments.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling tasks including slotting, profiling, and contouring on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle configurations on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers. The 2-flute design is particularly effective in softer materials and applications where chip clearance is critical. No chipbreaker or variable helix features are present, keeping the geometry straightforward for standard production use.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement end mill for CNC and manual milling machines accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank via collet or end mill holder.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state. Secure the 3/8-inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, torquing the retention mechanism according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before use. Follow shop safety procedures and applicable machine tool operating standards for tool runout and speed-feed selection.
