The HERTEL 45676673 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machining operations. With a 0.406-inch diameter and six straight flutes, this reamer delivers consistent, accurate sizing and smooth surface finishes in through-holes and blind bores. The straight shank allows direct mounting in standard drill chucks, collets, or toolholding systems. An overall length of 3.5 inches and a flute length of 1.25 inches make it well suited to shallow-to-moderate depth reaming applications. The bright, uncoated solid carbide construction offers rigidity and wear resistance in a wide range of workpiece materials. Right-hand cutting direction follows standard reaming convention. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
This chucking reamer is used in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses where a reamed hole finish is required after drilling. It is appropriate for production and job-shop environments reaming ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composite materials. The straight-flute geometry is particularly effective in materials that produce short, breaking chips. With a package quantity of one, it suits both single-use tooling orders and replenishment of shop inventory.
Designed as a standard straight-shank chucking reamer for use in any machine tool capable of accepting a straight-shank cutting tool in the appropriate diameter range.
A licensed machinist or qualified tool operator should mount this reamer in a properly sized collet or drill chuck, ensuring the shank is fully seated and the runout is within acceptable limits before cutting. Power down the machine and lock out energy sources before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve hole finish. Do not use this reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore the hole close to final size before reaming.
