The HERTEL 45675253 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal and similar materials. With a 0.208-inch cutting diameter and a 4-flute straight flute geometry, it delivers consistent bore sizing and smooth surface finish on through and blind holes. The straight shank seats directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length, this reamer suits short-reach applications where rigidity and concentricity are critical. Machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople use this reamer when tolerances demand more accuracy than a drill alone can provide.
This chucking reamer is well-suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills handling precision bore work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The bright polished finish reduces built-up edge and aids chip evacuation. Right-hand cutting direction pairs with standard right-hand spindle rotation. Typical applications include finishing reamed holes for dowel pins, bushings, and close-tolerance bearing fits in production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank tool holders, drill chucks, and ER collet systems on CNC and manual machines requiring a 0.208-inch finished bore diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with reaming feeds, speeds, and coolant requirements for carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured before engaging the reamer, and confirm shank seating and runout are within acceptable limits before cutting. Do not use this reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of finished size before reaming. Carbide tooling is brittle; avoid interrupted cuts and side loading that could cause chipping or fracture.
