The HERTEL 45674975 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine tool applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.174 inches and an overall length of 2.75 inches, this tool delivers tight dimensional accuracy in through-hole and blind-hole reaming operations. The straight flute geometry and bright polished finish reduce cutting resistance and improve chip evacuation. Four flutes provide a balance of material removal rate and surface finish quality. It is installed via a straight shank and is compatible with standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholding systems. Machinists and tool and die professionals rely on this class of reamer where close-tolerance fits are required.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and job-shop machining environments where consistent bore diameters are critical. The 7/8-inch flute length handles typical workpiece depths in this diameter range. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with conventional CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill press setups running standard spindle rotation. The solid carbide construction is preferred when reaming hardened materials, cast iron, aluminum alloys, and other abrasive workpiece materials where high-speed steel tooling wears prematurely.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses equipped with straight-shank toolholding systems accepting this diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with reaming operations and machine tool safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before beginning setup. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain surface finish quality. Do not use this reamer as a drill to create an initial hole — always ream a pre-drilled or bored hole sized appropriately undersize for the intended reaming allowance.
