The HERTEL 4139648 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty holemaking in ferrous and hard materials. It features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and allows drilling to start without a center punch in most applications. The TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in high-speed and dry-cutting conditions. The right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. This bit is sized at 13/64 inches (0.2031 inches decimal) with a straight-cylindrical shank, and is suited for use in manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills by machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators.
This jobber drill is built for general-purpose and production holemaking in materials such as stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and other hard metals where standard high-speed steel bits wear prematurely. The cobalt construction and TiAlN coating make it a practical choice for shops running interrupted cuts or elevated spindle speeds. With a 3-5/8-inch overall length and 2-7/16-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust requirements and improves centering performance.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber drill for standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 13/64-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance for the application. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow the machine manufacturer's recommended speed and feed parameters for cobalt tooling in the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit when performance degrades to avoid workpiece damage.
