The HERTEL 4006157 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert engineered for use in indexable insert drills in metalcutting operations. Designed with an 80-degree diamond shape and a 0.4882-inch (12.40 mm) inscribed circle, this insert delivers precise, repeatable cutting geometry in production drilling applications. The physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiAlN and AlCrN dual-coating system provides heat resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. A 1.20 mm (0.0472 inch) corner radius and an 11-degree relief angle support clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool-and-die professionals install this insert in compatible indexable drill bodies.
This insert is suited for drilling ferrous and non-ferrous metals in CNC machining centers and drill presses. The HPMTGP chipbreaker geometry is designed for general-purpose drilling where controlled chip flow is required. The neutral cutting direction makes it adaptable to a wide range of drilling orientations. It fits insert pockets with a 5.50 mm (0.2165 inch) mounting hole diameter and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for shop floor restocking and production tooling programs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for indexable drill bodies accepting HPMT-style inserts with a 0.4882-inch inscribed circle, 5.50 mm mounting hole, and insert size designation 125812. Verify pocket geometry and insert size against your drill body specification before ordering.
Install and replace indexable inserts with the spindle locked and the machine powered down. Use a calibrated torque screwdriver appropriate for insert clamp screws to avoid pocket damage - consult the drill body manufacturer specification for the correct fastener torque. Handle solid carbide inserts carefully to prevent chipping of the cutting edge prior to use. Always wear appropriate eye and hand protection when changing inserts on cutting tools.
