The HERTEL 4006130 is a steel-body indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. The drill accepts two HPMT094508-GP indexable inserts and produces holes at a 1-7/16 inch (1.4375 inch decimal) nominal diameter with a maximum drill diameter of 1.4810 inches. The 4xD depth-to-diameter ratio allows drilling to a maximum depth of 5-3/4 inches in a single pass. Built on a 1-1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank, this tool mounts directly into compatible drill chucks or tool holders on CNC machining centers and horizontal boring mills. Coolant-through capability is supported via a 1/4 inch thread at the shank end, aiding chip evacuation and extending insert life at aggressive feed rates.
This indexable insert drill is suited for production environments where consistent hole diameter and high metal removal rates are required. Typical applications include roughing through-holes and blind holes in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials on CNC turning centers, vertical machining centers, and horizontal machining centers. The right-hand cutting direction and straight shank configuration make it a direct fit for standard spindle setups without additional adapters in most cases. Machinists and tooling engineers responsible for production floor setup and tooling procurement are the primary users of this drill body.
Compatible insert style is HPMT094508-GP. The drill body is designed for use in compatible HID-style drill systems. Verify holder bore and coolant connection specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before inserting or removing the drill body from the tool holder. Confirm that the holder bore diameter matches the 1-1/2 inch shank and that clamping torque is applied per the machine tool manufacturer's specifications. When using internal coolant, verify that the coolant system pressure is compatible with the tool before initiating a cut.
