The HERTEL 4006105 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity metal drilling applications. It accepts two HPMT063306-GP indexable inserts and runs in a right-hand cutting direction. The drill body is constructed from steel and features through-coolant capability via a 1/4-inch shank-end coolant hole thread, making it well suited for demanding production environments where heat and chip evacuation are critical. With a 7/8-inch (0.8750-inch decimal) drill diameter and a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio, it delivers a maximum drill depth of 2-5/8 inches per pass. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and CNC operators working in job shops or production facilities are the primary users of this tooling.
This indexable insert drill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, lathes, and drilling machines capable of accepting a 1-inch straight cylindrical shank. The HID drill style compatibility and the 3xD depth ratio make it a practical choice for through-hole and blind-hole drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. The two-insert configuration provides good radial balance during cutting. At 5.834 inches of body length with a 2.5-inch shank length, it fits standard toolholding setups without extended-reach adapters in most applications.
Compatible drill style is HID. Uses HPMT063306-GP indexable inserts. Designed for use with toolholders accepting a 1-inch straight cylindrical shank on CNC machining centers and drilling machines.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is placed in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or removing the drill body or inserts. Confirm that the toolholder bore is clean and within tolerance before inserting the 1-inch shank, and torque the clamping screws to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify coolant line connection at the shank-end port before running at full feed and speed if through-coolant is used.
