The HERTEL 4006095 is a steel-body indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. With a 1.75-inch drill diameter and a maximum drill depth of 3.5 inches at a 2xD depth-to-diameter ratio, this drill is built for rigid, repeatable performance in CNC machining centers and manual drilling setups alike. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1.5 inches in diameter and 3 inches in length, providing secure toolholder engagement. The body accepts two indexable inserts compatible with the HPMT125812-GP insert style, eliminating regrind downtime. Coolant-through capability is included, with a 1/4-inch threaded coolant port at the shank end for effective chip evacuation and tool life extension.
This indexable insert drill suits production environments where consistent bore quality and fast cycle times are required. It is appropriate for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metal drilling on horizontal and vertical machining centers. The right-hand cutting direction and straight shank make it a direct fit for standard collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and Weldon-style holders with the appropriate bore diameter. A collar diameter of 1.949 inches provides a positive stop reference where toolholder design supports it.
Takes HPMT125812-GP indexable inserts. Compatible drill style is HID. Designed for use with toolholders accepting a 1.5-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an appropriate safe state before mounting or indexing inserts. Verify toolholder bore diameter matches the 1.5-inch shank before clamping. Follow insert manufacturer torque recommendations for insert screws and confirm coolant line compatibility before enabling through-tool coolant flow.
