The HERTEL 4006092 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built to accept two HPMT094508-GP inserts, this drill delivers a nominal cutting diameter of 1-5/16 inches (1.3125 inches decimal) with a maximum drill diameter of 1.3520 inches. The drill-to-diameter ratio is 2xD, supporting a maximum drill depth of 2-5/8 inches. Coolant-through capability is built in, with a 1/4-inch shank-end coolant hole thread, making it well suited for high-speed production drilling where heat management is critical. The tool body is constructed of steel and is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC machining centers and lathes.
This indexable insert drill is intended for use in production machining environments, including job shops and manufacturing facilities running ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The right-hand cutting direction and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard ER and hydraulic toolholders sized for a 1-1/2-inch shank. The 2xD depth ratio is a standard fit for through-hole and blind-hole operations where moderate depth is required and chip evacuation must remain controlled. It is sized for applications where a dedicated solid carbide drill would be cost-prohibitive or where insert changeability reduces downtime.
Designed for use with HPMT094508-GP indexable inserts. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 1-1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers and turning centers equipped with coolant-through spindle capability.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machine before loading or unloading the drill body or changing inserts. Torque insert screws using the manufacturer-supplied wrench only; do not use impact tools on insert retention hardware. Verify coolant-through connection and flow rate at the spindle before beginning the cut to ensure proper chip evacuation and tool life.
