The HERTEL 4006084 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in metal cutting applications. It accepts two HPMT074006-GP inserts and uses a 2xD depth-to-diameter ratio, giving a maximum drill depth of 1-7/8 inches at a nominal drill diameter of 15/16 inches (0.9375 inches). The 1-1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Built from steel with coolant-through capability via a 1/4 inch shank-end coolant hole thread, this drill is suited for shops running high-volume production or precision component work where insert indexability reduces downtime.
This drill is intended for use in metalworking environments where repeatable hole geometry and fast insert changes are priorities. It is well matched to CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers running ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The right-hand cutting direction and straight shank make it a direct fit for standard ER or hydraulic toolholders with appropriate collets or chucks. Machinists, tool-and-die setters, and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities are the primary users. The coolant-through design supports chip evacuation in deeper holes and helps manage heat at the cutting edge.
Designed for use with HPMT074006-GP indexable inserts. Fits toolholders accepting a 1-1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Verify toolholder bore and clamping method before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician following standard toolholder clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or unloading the drill body. Confirm insert seating and screw torque per the insert manufacturer's documentation before running. When using coolant-through capability, verify that the coolant supply connection at the shank end is properly sealed and that system pressure is within the machine tool specification.
