The HERTEL 4006082 is a straight-shank indexable insert drill designed for precision hole-making in metal cutting applications. Built to the HID drill style, it accepts two HPMT042004-GP inserts and produces a nominal 19/32 inch (0.5937 inch decimal) bore with a maximum drillable diameter of 0.6120 inches. The 2xD depth-to-diameter ratio allows a maximum drill depth of 1-3/16 inches. The steel body measures 3.896 inches in body length with a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, making it compatible with standard toolholders in that bore size. Coolant-through capability is included, with a 1/8 inch shank-end coolant hole thread, supporting chip evacuation and tool life in high-production setups.
This indexable drill is suited for CNC machining centers and turning centers where repeatable, high-feed hole drilling is required. The right-hand cutting direction and indexable insert design make it a practical choice for production shops running ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The coolant-through design is especially beneficial in deep-entry or high-speed drilling passes where chip packing is a concern. Machinists and tool-crib personnel familiar with modular insert tooling will find the two-insert configuration straightforward to set up and re-index at the machine.
Designed for use with HPMT042004-GP indexable inserts. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Drill style HID.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is securely clamped in the holder before indexing or replacing inserts. Verify coolant line connections at the shank-end port before initiating a drilling cycle. Follow the insert manufacturer torque guidance for clamping screws and inspect insert seating before running at full feed rate.
