The HERTEL 333-006550 is a solid carbide countersink designed for precise, clean chamfering and countersinking operations in metal, composite, and hard materials. It features a 1/2 inch head diameter and a 60 degree included angle, making it suited for creating flush-seat profiles for flat-head fasteners. The 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without modification. With 3 flutes and a right hand cutting direction, this tool delivers smooth, controlled material removal at the cutting face. The bright, uncoated carbide construction provides rigidity and edge retention in demanding shop applications. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This countersink is intended for single-end use without a pilot, suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual milling setups where a consistent countersink profile is required. The 60 degree included angle is a standard geometry used in aerospace and general metalworking applications for flat-head screw seating. The bright finish keeps the tool suitable for a wide range of base materials where coated tooling is not required or preferred.
Designed as a general-purpose countersink for use with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank, compatible with CNC and manual setups requiring a 60 degree countersink profile.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with speeds and feeds for carbide cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and confirm runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Ensure the workpiece is properly fixtured and the spindle is fully stopped before tool changes. Do not use this tool with cutting directions or spindle orientations that conflict with the right hand cutting geometry.
