The HERTEL 2500514 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiN (Titanium Nitride), it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during high-feed roughing passes. The 1/2 inch diameter cutter features 4 flutes with an integrated chipbreaker geometry that breaks chips into manageable segments, reducing heat buildup and preventing recutting. With a 1 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length, this is a regular-length tool suited for standard depth milling applications. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this end mill for rapid stock removal before finish passes.
This end mill is applicable to general-purpose milling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in both production and job shop environments. The chipbreaker design makes it especially effective in materials that produce long, stringy chips, such as low-carbon steels, alloy steels, and stainless steels. The center-cutting capability allows plunge entry, adding versatility for pocket milling and slotting applications. The 1/2 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders common across CNC machining centers and knee mills.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and Weldon-style tool holders on CNC machining centers and conventional milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully within the tool holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Inspect the collet or holder bore for wear or contamination before mounting. Always verify spindle direction and programmed feed and speed parameters before initiating a cut.
