The HERTEL 2414449 is a high-speed steel (HSS) chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking applications. It features a 11/16 inch (0.6875 inch) diameter, a 9 inch overall length, and a 2-1/4 inch straight flute length. The 8-flute geometry produces a smooth, accurate bore finish in a single pass. The Morse Taper shank - specifically a No. 2 Morse Taper (2MT) - seats directly into compatible machine spindles without an additional chuck, providing rigid concentricity. This reamer is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians performing production or repair reaming on drill presses, lathes, or milling machines.
This chucking reamer is suited for finishing pre-drilled or bored holes to close tolerances in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional machine spindle rotation. The bright, uncoated HSS construction makes it appropriate for general-purpose reaming where cutting fluids are used to manage heat and tool wear. Typical applications include production shops, maintenance facilities, and job shops requiring accurate hole sizing in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in machine tools equipped with a No. 2 Morse Taper spindle or sleeve, including drill presses, lathes, and milling machines configured for 2MT tooling.
Installation and use of this reamer should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with machine tool operation. Before mounting, power down and lock out the machine spindle per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Clean the Morse Taper shank and spindle socket thoroughly before seating to ensure full contact and concentricity. Always use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and achieve the intended surface finish.
